Well, 2017 is a wrap!
From the saddle perspective, it has definitely been one to remember. I have put more miles in the last six months (@1500) than I probably have the prior two years combined. Given how busy life is and since there is only so much time in any given day, for me this is an accomplishment that I’m very proud of.
Aside from the benefits of feeling better physically and spending less cash at the gas pump, those rides gave me the chance to reflect on a great many things, quiet my mind and embrace the idea of living in the moment. Every one of those rides was significant to me in one way or another. I got to share some incredible adventures with some great people and am thankful that, for the most part, I made it through with no significant injuries.
I feel as though this last year has been a reboot for me. Whether I was out in the woods exploring foreign singletrack or simply going to and from work, there was a magic happening that has once again energized my soul and made me realize how important all of it, the experiences, the freedom, the camaraderie, truly is to me.
Looking into 2018, my hope is that I will continue at this pace I've unofficially set for myself and finish strong. And this time I'm going to do myself a favor and make an concerted effort to document it here. That way I'll be able to go back and relive it all again this time next year.
For all of you, I wish you well on your own journeys.
